When prominent businessman, attorney, and South Park Commissioner George W. Gage (--1875) died in office in 1875, his fellow board members decided to name a newly-developing park in his honor. In 1873, the commission had begun acquiring land for an elegant green square at the intersection of Western Avenue and what is now known as Garfield Boulevard. This property occupied a prominent location at the turning-point of the South Park Commission's boulevard system. Despite this, little had been done to complete Gage Park by the late 1890s. Frustrated by the park's unfinished condition, surrounding residents repeatedly asked for improvements. Finally, in 1903, the commission added ball fields, tennis courts, a wading pool, and a beautiful sunken garden with a formal reflecting pool and colonnade. In 1918, several small land purchases were made to extend the park's southern boundary. The following year, the commission constructed a swimming pool, separate men's and women's outdoor gymnasiums, and a children's playground in this area.

Everglades

The Everglades is a marshland in the south is filled with many living things. The Everglades is a large area of swampy land in southern florida. It was created by water spilling out of a big lake named Lake Okeechobee. It was called river of grass. There are plants, Alligators, fish, and birds. Most of the Everglades is covered by fresh water. A good way for tourists to see the Everglades is on an airboat. The Everglades lay about six inches under sea level. 

Great Salt Lake

The Great Salt Lake is the Largest lake in the united states. The Great Salt Lake covered western Utah by a huge fresh-water lake. The Great Salt Lake began to evaporate when the climate became warm. The water changed when the weather is warm. Swimming in the Great Salt Lake is a strange experiance because the swimmer almost floats and feels unable to sink. A variety of birds can be seen on the islands in the lake. The Great Salt Lake is largest natural lake west of the mississippi river.   

Niagrara Falls

Niagara Falls is a World-famous waterfall. Lake Ontario and Lake Erie are on the sides of Niagara Falls. The Falls can be viewed by helicopter, land, or by boat. The Falls spills 186 feet over the bluff. Under the top of the limestone bluff is a layer of softer shale. The limestone breaks and Fall into the river when enough softer rocks is worn away.Niagara Falls  has moved  seven Miles  because  of the rocks wearing away. Niagara Falls volume of water spilling is about 150,000 u.s Gallons persecond.

Crater lake

Crater Lake is the deepest lake in the United States. Crater Lake is in southern Oregon. Crater Lake is almost 2,000 feet at it's lowest point. Crater Lake appeared after a huge volcano erupted almost 6,000 years ago. The sides of the volcano's cone were cracked. The rain and melting snow created a lake. Sequoia National Park

Sequoia National Park is the home of the largest living things on earth. The seeds fell on the ground in part of Califonia over 2,000 years ago. The seed grew into giant sequoia trees.  General Sherman was the name given to the biggest tree.  The trunk of general Sherman was 272 feet high.  The bark helps to protect the tree froms insects, disease, and fire.  The hollow trunks of fallen trees are large enough for a car to pass through them.  The general Sherman tree, located in Sequoia National park is the largest living thing on earth.

If I had a robot

This morning I read a magazine article about space robots.  It talked about space robots working outside the international space station.  
It also talked about a humanoid robot named or called R2.

If I had a robot , he would have mechanical arms. He could use his arms to help me clean my room.

If I had a robot, I would use it to connect two electrical wires to give us more power for our house.

If Miss Graham had a robot, she would program it to help her take care of her garden.  She would have it pull up weeds and delicious vegetables.

The Grand Canyon Skywalk

Carved by the Colorado River over 15 million years and spanning approximately 277 miles long; the Grand Canyon captures the hearts of visitors around the world with its epic views of majestic mountain peaks and valleys, clear skies that soar into deep shades of blue, and the awesome biological diversity of Mother Nature.  Located at the canyon’s west rim, the Grand Canyon Skywalk allows visitors to “Walk the Sky” with its unique glass bottomed cantilever U shaped observation deck that spans 70 feet (21.34 meters) over the canyon’s rim and sits 4,000 feet (1,219 meters) above the Colorado River.  A construction masterpiece, the glass – which is the only element that separates visitors from the deep canyon floor – weighs 1.2 million pounds.   Completed in March 2007, the Skywalk is located on the Hualapai Indian Reservation in northwest Arizona and is the only architectural wonder of its kind that allows visitors to truly take in the experience of this beautiful and majestic place.
